What Would Your Teen Do..? Sexting and Consent in 2019

The Rowan Center provides prevention education programs to almost every school throughout the eight towns in lower Fairfield County. In these programs, we have age-appropriate conversations with the students around sexual violence - definitions, laws, bystander intervention techniques, etc. The students are quite open to talking to us about these incredibly sensitive and often uncomfortable topics. We offer a safe space where they can ask questions freely, without judgement or shame.

It is integral that this conversation be ongoing between students and parents. Eliminating sexual violence is a group effort – within households, schools, neighborhoods, communities, etc. In addition to offering these presentations to students, we recognize the importance of having these same conversations with parents - who have just as many questions as the students. Having everyone aligned, using the same language, understanding the topic fully, and knowing the resources available for questions and crisis support are incredibly important to everyone in our community.

Join us for this parent talk, where certified sexual assault advocates from The Rowan Center discuss best practices around having these conversations with your children.
