Moving somewhere new means starting from scratch.

For nearly 50 years, we've been helping people new to Darien and Norwalk find their people. This season, we're doing it again.

Today, we are sharing an important leadership update from YWCA Darien/Norwalk.

After eight years of dedicated service to the organization, including the last two and a half as Chief Executive Officer, Jennifer Buchholz will be transitioning from her role later this year.

Jennifer first joined YWCA Darien/Norwalk as a member of the Board of Directors before becoming CEO in 2024. Throughout her tenure, she has helped strengthen the organization, expand community partnerships, enhance programming, and increase YWCA's visibility throughout the region.

We are deeply grateful for Jennifer's leadership, dedication, and commitment to our mission.

As we look ahead and prepare to celebrate our 50th anniversary, the Board of Directors has launched a search for YWCA Darien/Norwalk's next Chief Executive Officer. We are excited about the future and the opportunity to welcome a new leader who will help guide the organization through its next phase of growth and impact.

Today is Juneteenth, a national holiday that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of racial justice.

On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas and informed enslaved people that they were free. Juneteenth marks that historic day and serves as an opportunity to reflect, learn, and celebrate.
